Annual Ceremony Honoring Top-Achieving Students and Welcoming First-Year Students at the College of Information Technology

In an academic and celebratory atmosphere reflecting excellence and institutional belonging, the College of Information Technology organized its annual ceremony to honor top-achieving students and welcome first-year students for the new academic year. The event was attended by the Dean of the College, heads of academic departments, faculty members, and a large gathering of students.
The ceremony commenced with the recitation of verses from the Holy Qur’an, followed by the Iraqi National Anthem, embodying national values and institutional identity. This was followed by an opening address delivered by the Dean of the College, who warmly welcomed the new students and congratulated them on joining the academic community of the College of Information Technology. He emphasized that this stage represents a pivotal milestone in their academic and professional journeys.
In his speech, the Dean highlighted the importance of diligence, perseverance, and academic discipline, alongside the development of both scientific and practical skills. He affirmed that the college is committed to preparing highly qualified technical graduates capable of keeping pace with rapid advancements in information technology, through a supportive educational environment that integrates theoretical knowledge with practical application and encourages innovation and scientific research.
The ceremony also included speeches by the heads of the academic departments, who outlined the college’s mission and the objectives of each department, stressing their role in supplying the labor market with specialized competencies in software engineering, information networks, and cybersecurity. They further discussed the nature of each specialization, future career prospects, and the importance of adhering to a structured academic path to achieve excellence and success.
As part of strengthening direct interaction between students and faculty, a dedicated segment featured a faculty member from each department, who provided an overview of the academic programs, curricula, and the key skills students acquire throughout their years of study. This segment also shed light on opportunities for development, participation in scientific and research activities, and engagement in student initiatives.
The ceremony further included a distinguished segment in which a student from each department shared their academic experience, addressing the challenges they faced, the academic support they received from faculty members, and the role of the university environment in refining their scientific and personal skills. These experiences served as inspiring models for first-year students and a strong motivation to pursue excellence.
The event concluded with the honoring of the top three students from both morning and evening studies in each academic department, in recognition of their outstanding academic achievement and commitment. This gesture reflects the college’s dedication to fostering a culture of excellence, healthy competition, and academic distinction among its students.
