It was established in 2009-2010 under the name of the College of Computer Technology, then its name was changed to the College of Information Technology in 2012, as a result of the development of scientific curricula. It is one of the advanced colleges in the university in terms of infrastructure and laboratories. The college grants a bachelor's degree (computer science) according to the departments mentioned above. The college follows the course system. Postgraduate studies (Master - PhD) in the software department.

Alpha Team Delivers a Specialized Workshop on Web Application Security and Incident Response at the College of Information Technology Duhaa Fadill Abbas In line with its objectives of enhancing cybersecurity awareness and developing advanced technical competencies, Alpha Team organized a specialized workshop entitledWebGuard-IR: Web Security & Incident Response Workshop, in cooperation with the Department of Cybersecurity and the Continuing Education Unit at the College of Information Technology. The workshop was delivered by Alpha Team members Hassan Ali Hassan Saleh, Hussein Haider Subaih, and Hassaneen Abbas Hashem, under the supervision of Mr. Hassan Abdul Amir and Dr. Mohammed Ibrahim, a faculty member of the Department of Cybersecurity, and in accordance with recognized standards in the field of cybersecurity and incident response. The workshop focused on providing in-depth, hands-on content related to web application security and incident response mechanisms, through the analysis of realistic scenarios that simulate professional working environments within Security Operations Centers (SOC). This approach enabled participants to gain practical insight into methods for detecting abnormal and suspicious activities, analyzing cybersecurity incidents, and containing them using structured, professional methodologies. This workshop was conducted within the framework of Alpha Team’s goals to bridge the gap between theoretical knowledge and practical application, and to empower students and interested participants with analytical and technical skills that enhance their readiness to address real-world cyber threats. It also contributed to strengthening concepts related to web application protection and rapid incident response in modern digital environments. The workshop reflects Alpha Team’s commitment, in collaboration with the Department of Cybersecurity and the Continuing Education Unit, to delivering high-quality training activities that contribute to the development of technical competencies and keep pace with rapid advancements in the field of cybersecurity, thereby supporting participants’ academic and professional pathways and fostering a strong culture of information security within the academic community.
