A Distinguished Scientific Achievement Added to the Record of the Department of Software Engineering at the College of Information Technology

The Department of Software Engineering at the College of Information Technology, University of Babylon, continues to demonstrate its outstanding scientific presence, as Assistant Professor Dr. Iman Kazim Aboud and Assistant Professor Dr. Hawraa Shareef Hamza, faculty members of the Department, have been nominated for the “Young Female Researcher Award” in the field of pure sciences, granted by the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research to distinguished female researchers under the age of 40 for excellence in international scientific publishing.
This nomination follows their selection among the top seven female researchers nationwide in these disciplines, representing the University of Babylon for this prestigious award. The selection was based on an exceptional academic record and fulfillment of the award’s criteria, which include obtaining a PhD before the age of forty, possessing a high H-index, intensive scientific publishing as first authors in reputable international databases such as Scopus and Clarivate, publication in first-quartile (Q1) journals, as well as active participation as reviewers and editors in internationally recognized scientific journals.
Both nominees have been invited to attend the final interview at the headquarters of the Department of Research and Development, where the top three awardees will be selected to represent Iraq in this esteemed competition.
The Dean of the College of Information Technology, Professor Dr. Wissam Sameer Bhaya, praised this scientific achievement, emphasizing that it reflects the academic rigor of the College and the level of institutional support dedicated to promoting high-quality research and empowering academic staff to achieve a strong presence in international indexing databases and competitive scientific awards.
In the same context, the Head of the Department of Software Engineering, Assistant Professor Dr. Sura Zaki Al-Rashed, stated that this nomination is the result of cumulative research efforts and systematic scholarly work within the Department. She noted that it embodies the Department’s commitment to fostering a motivating academic environment that supports creativity and excellence, particularly among female researchers, while continuing to provide scientific and methodological support that enhances the quality of research output and strengthens the standing of the Department and the College in national and international academic rankings and forums.
