It was established in 2009-2010 under the name of the College of Computer Technology, then its name was changed to the College of Information Technology in 2012, as a result of the development of scientific curricula. It is one of the advanced colleges in the university in terms of infrastructure and laboratories. The college grants a bachelor's degree (computer science) according to the departments mentioned above. The college follows the course system. Postgraduate studies (Master - PhD) in the software department.

Department of Software Engineering at the College of Information Technology Organizes a Scientific Workshop on the Application of Artificial Intelligence in Scientific Research Duhaa Fadill Abbas As part of its continuous efforts to enhance the quality of scientific research and keep pace with modern technological developments the Department of Software Engineering at the College of Information Technology organized a scientific workshop entitled Artificial Intelligence in the Service of Scientific Research Advanced Data Analysis Models delivered by Dr Waddah Rzouqi Beai with the active participation of postgraduate students and researchers. The workshop addressed the growing role of artificial intelligence in supporting scientific research particularly in the field of digital data analysis and its utilization to produce accurate and reliable research outcomes It also presented fundamental concepts related to digital data and their importance in scientific research in addition to methods for searching and obtaining data from various sources as well as introducing a number of platforms and websites that support empirically driven research. The workshop highlighted the mechanisms for employing artificial intelligence techniques in data analysis and the advanced models they provide which contribute to accelerating the analysis process and enhancing the efficiency and quality of research results in line with contemporary scientific standards and the requirements of rigorous academic publishing. This workshop was conducted as part of a series of scientific and research skills development workshops organized by the Department of Software Engineering with the aim of strengthening the capabilities of students and researchers expanding their knowledge of modern technical tools and enabling them to effectively employ intelligent technologies in their scientific research thereby contributing to the advancement of the academic and research standing of the Department and the College. The workshop witnessed positive interaction from participants who emphasized the importance of such scientific activities in supporting their research journey and developing their skills in handling and analyzing data using artificial intelligence technologies in a manner that enhances the quality of research outputs and aligns with the requirements of contemporary scientific research
