It was established in 2009-2010 under the name of the College of Computer Technology, then its name was changed to the College of Information Technology in 2012, as a result of the development of scientific curricula. It is one of the advanced colleges in the university in terms of infrastructure and laboratories. The college grants a bachelor's degree (computer science) according to the departments mentioned above. The college follows the course system. Postgraduate studies (Master - PhD) in the software department.

قسم شبكات المعلومات في كلية تكنولوجيا المعلومات يقيم ورشة علمية حول مهارات مناقشة الاطروحات العلمية ضحى فاضل عباس ضمن سعيه المستمر لدعم طلبة الدراسات العليا وتعزيز مهاراتهم الاكاديمية اقام قسم شبكات المعلومات في كلية تكنولوجيا المعلومات ورشة علمية بعنوان " How can you Survive Yourself from " the VIVA VOC قدمها الاستاذ الدكتور فائز علي راشد المعموري وبمشاركة طلبة الدراسات العليا والباحثين وهدفت الورشة الى وضع الخطوط العريضة التي تمكن الطالب من الدفاع عن نفسه علميا خلال جلسة مناقشة الاطروحة مع تسليط الضوء على اهم السبل الاكاديمية و السياقات العلمية المعتمدة في عرض البحث والدفاع عن نتائجه من خلال اثبات الاطر العلمية والمنهجية والنتائج التي توصل اليها الطالب خلال فترة البحث . وتناول الاستاذ الدكتور فائز علي راشد خلال الورشة اهم الاسئلة التي قد يواجهها الطالب اثناء المناقشة العلمية واليات التعامل معها بصورة منهجية رصينة فضلا عن توضيح اساليب عرض خطة البحث وشرح منهجية البحث العلمي بشكل متكامل يعكس عمق الفهم والسيطرة العلمية على موضوع الدراسة. وتأتي هذه الورشة ضمن سلسلة الورش العلمية وتطوير المهارات البحثية التي ينظمها قسم شبكات المعلومات بهدف تعزيز ثقة طلبة الدراسات العليا بانفسهم و تهيئتهم علميا وعمليا لخوض مناقشات الاطروحات بما ينسجم مع المعايير الاكاديمية المعتمدة. وشهدت الورشة تفاعلا ايجابيا من الحاضرين الذين اكدوا اهمية هذه الورش في دعم مسيرتهم البحثية وتطوير مهارات العرض والمناقشة العلمية بما يسهم في الارتقاء بالمستوى الاكاديمي والبحثي للقسم والكلية ويعزز جودة مخرجات الدراسات العليا
