It was established in 2009-2010 under the name of the College of Computer Technology, then its name was changed to the College of Information Technology in 2012, as a result of the development of scientific curricula. It is one of the advanced colleges in the university in terms of infrastructure and laboratories. The college grants a bachelor's degree (computer science) according to the departments mentioned above. The college follows the course system. Postgraduate studies (Master - PhD) in the software department.

College of Information Technology Participates in the Central Graduation Ceremony of the University of Babylon for the Academic Year 2024–2025 Duhaa Fadill Abbas The College of Information Technology at the University of Babylon actively participated in the central ceremony organized by the University Presidency to mark the graduation of the 32nd cohort (Excellence and Creativity Cycle) for the academic year 2024–2025. The event was held under the patronage of the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Dr. Naeem Al-Aboudi, and under the direct supervision of the President of the University, Professor Dr. Ameen Ajil Al-Yasiri. The College was represented at this distinguished academic gathering by the Dean of the College, Professor Dr. Wesam Sameer Bhaya, accompanied by the Assistant Deans for Administrative and Scientific Affairs, alongside the Heads of the academic departments and the top-performing students of the College. This participation reflected an active and prominent presence, underscoring the College’s standing within the University’s academic framework. The ceremony featured a welcoming address delivered by the President of the University, followed by the recitation of the graduation oath and the formal presentation of the official university graduation orders for the Class of 2024–2025, in an atmosphere that embodied pride in the students’ academic accomplishments. The event also witnessed the honoring of the top student at the university level by the President of the University, while the Deans of the Colleges presented awards to the second- and third-ranking students, in recognition of their academic efforts and scholarly excellence. This participation reflects the College of Information Technology’s commitment to fostering a culture of excellence and innovation, supporting high-achieving students, and strengthening their role in contributing effectively to digital transformation, community service, and the development of a sustainable, knowledge-based future.
