It was established in 2009-2010 under the name of the College of Computer Technology, then its name was changed to the College of Information Technology in 2012, as a result of the development of scientific curricula. It is one of the advanced colleges in the university in terms of infrastructure and laboratories. The college grants a bachelor's degree (computer science) according to the departments mentioned above. The college follows the course system. Postgraduate studies (Master - PhD) in the software department.

Scientific Seminar Entitled “Green Architecture: Metrics Shaping the Future of Construction” at the College of Information Technology Duhaa Fadill Abbas Within the framework of promoting sustainability and supporting innovation, and as part of the activities of the Entrepreneurship, Creativity, and Innovation Week, the College of Information Technology, in cooperation with the Continuing Education Unit, organized a scientific seminar entitled “Green Architecture: Metrics Shaping the Future of Construction.” The seminar was delivered by Dr. Alaa Shawqi Jaber, a faculty member of the Department of Information Networks, and addressed key contemporary concepts and standards that contribute to shaping the future of sustainable construction. The seminar discussed the concept of green architecture and its significance in achieving environmental sustainability, highlighting internationally recognized metrics used in the design of eco-friendly buildings and their role in reducing energy consumption and preserving natural resources, in addition to the application of smart technologies in the development of the construction sector. The presenter also reviewed leading global models and successful experiences in the field of green architecture, emphasizing the importance of interdisciplinary integration between technological and engineering fields in supporting the transition toward smart and sustainable cities, as well as the role of academic institutions in raising environmental awareness and fostering innovation. The seminar witnessed active interaction from faculty members and students through discussions and interventions that enriched its themes, in line with the college’s orientation toward supporting scientific and intellectual activities that reinforce a culture of entrepreneurship and creativity.
