It was established in 2009-2010 under the name of the College of Computer Technology, then its name was changed to the College of Information Technology in 2012, as a result of the development of scientific curricula. It is one of the advanced colleges in the university in terms of infrastructure and laboratories. The college grants a bachelor's degree (computer science) according to the departments mentioned above. The college follows the course system. Postgraduate studies (Master - PhD) in the software department.

Scientific Seminar Entitled “Digital Innovation” at the College of Information Technology Duhaa Fadill Abbas As part of its efforts to enhance students’ innovation skills and introduce the latest developments in the digital field, and with the aim of highlighting the role of technology in project development and improving institutional performance, the College of Information Technology, in cooperation with the Continuing Education Unit, organized a scientific seminar entitled “Digital Innovation.” The seminar was delivered by Prof. Al-Harith Abdul Karim Abdullah, Head of the Department, as part of the activities of the Entrepreneurship, Creativity, and Innovation Week. The seminar addressed the concept of digital innovation and its role in advancing modern technologies and optimizing processes, with a focus on how digital solutions can enhance performance and create value across academic and industrial sectors. Prof. Al-Harith also explored key pillars of digital innovation, including digital transformation, artificial intelligence, and emerging technologies that contribute to the development of creative projects and initiatives. The seminar witnessed active engagement from faculty members and students through discussions and interventions that enriched its content, aligning with the college’s objectives to support scientific and intellectual activities that foster a culture of entrepreneurship and innovation.
