Organizing an Awareness Campaign to Curb Irregular Migration at the College of Information Technology

As part of its commitment to its educational and societal role, the Continuing Education Unit at the College of Information Technology, in collaboration with the academic departments, organized a comprehensive awareness campaign aimed at addressing and reducing the phenomenon of irregular migration. The campaign included the dissemination of informational posters and the distribution of educational brochures throughout the college premises.

The initiative sought to shed light on the humanitarian and legal risks associated with irregular migration, including potential exposure to exploitation, drowning, human trafficking networks, and forced deportation, as well as the broader social and economic repercussions of this phenomenon.

The campaign addressed key awareness themes focusing on the underlying causes that drive irregular migration and emphasized the importance of enhancing students’ awareness of its serious consequences. It also highlighted the significance of empowering young people academically and professionally as a safe and sustainable pathway toward building a secure and prosperous future within their home country.

The campaign was supervised and implemented by Assistant Lecturer Hassan Hadi Abd from the Department of Cybersecurity, Assistant Lecturer Ali Hussein Mahdi from the Department of Information Networks, and Mr. Shukr Hamid Shaker from the Department of Cybersecurity. They underscored the importance of coordinated academic and awareness efforts in confronting this issue and fostering a culture of responsibility and informed decision-making among students.

This campaign forms part of a broader series of initiatives undertaken by the College to promote community awareness, in alignment with the University’s vision of instilling positive values and preparing a conscious generation capable of addressing contemporary challenges.
