It was established in 2009-2010 under the name of the College of Computer Technology, then its name was changed to the College of Information Technology in 2012, as a result of the development of scientific curricula. It is one of the advanced colleges in the university in terms of infrastructure and laboratories. The college grants a bachelor's degree (computer science) according to the departments mentioned above. The college follows the course system. Postgraduate studies (Master - PhD) in the software department.

Scientific Seminar on the Role of Artificial Intelligence in Developing Creative and Startup Projects Duha Fadill Abbas As part of the Entrepreneurship, Creativity, and Innovation Week activities, and in alignment with the College of Information Technology’s commitment to fostering a culture of innovation and empowering students to effectively utilize emerging technologies in their entrepreneurial endeavors, the Department of Information Networks, in cooperation with the Continuing Education Unit, organized a scientific seminar entitled “The Role of Artificial Intelligence in Developing Creative and Startup Projects.” The seminar was delivered by Dr. Taif Alaa Hamdi, a faculty member of the department. The seminar aimed to highlight the strategic importance of Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies in supporting entrepreneurial ecosystems and enabling innovators to transform their ideas into viable, competitive, and scalable business models. It addressed several key themes, including the application of machine learning algorithms and data analytics techniques to enhance product and service quality, optimize operational efficiency, and support data-driven strategic decision-making processes. Furthermore, the seminar presented practical case studies illustrating how AI-powered tools can accelerate startup growth, improve performance forecasting, personalize user experiences, and reduce operational risks. It also explored the technical and ethical challenges associated with AI adoption, emphasizing the importance of responsible implementation, governance frameworks, and awareness of data privacy considerations in innovative digital environments. The seminar witnessed active engagement from students and attendees through discussions and analytical contributions that enriched its themes. This initiative reflects the College’s ongoing efforts to support scientific and professional activities that strengthen innovation-driven competencies and prepare graduates capable of keeping pace with rapid digital transformation and the evolving demands of the technology sector.
