It was established in 2009-2010 under the name of the College of Computer Technology, then its name was changed to the College of Information Technology in 2012, as a result of the development of scientific curricula. It is one of the advanced colleges in the university in terms of infrastructure and laboratories. The college grants a bachelor's degree (computer science) according to the departments mentioned above. The college follows the course system. Postgraduate studies (Master - PhD) in the software department.

Workshop at the College of Information Technology Prepares Students for the Developer Job Market Duha Fadill Abbas In line with the objectives of GDGB Babylon, aimed at empowering students and equipping them with practical skills necessary to enter the digital job market, the club, in cooperation with QI Card Company, organized a specialized workshop to prepare students for the developer job market at the College of Information Technology – University of Babylon. The workshop was supervised by Asst. Prof. Mortadha Dawood Mohammed, who contributed to coordinating the program and providing academic support to the students. The event also witnessed the presence of the College Dean, alongside faculty members and a large number of students. The workshop was delivered by Hassan Tahseen, a developer at QI Card Company, who highlighted the key skills and experiences developers must acquire to meet the demands of companies and organizations in the field of information technology. The session also addressed strategies for building a digital CV and effective methods for developing technical and practical skills in line with current trends in the job market. Additionally, the workshop covered the essential requirements for developers entering the workforce, providing practical advice on leveraging academic and training projects to refine expertise and transform it into competencies that can be applied effectively in real work environments. The workshop witnessed active engagement from students through discussions and interactive contributions, enriching the session with practical insights on how to prepare effectively for the digital job market. This aligns with the College’s objectives to support students’ technical and professional skills and enhance their readiness to meet the evolving demands of the modern workforce.
