It was established in 2009-2010 under the name of the College of Computer Technology, then its name was changed to the College of Information Technology in 2012, as a result of the development of scientific curricula. It is one of the advanced colleges in the university in terms of infrastructure and laboratories. The college grants a bachelor's degree (computer science) according to the departments mentioned above. The college follows the course system. Postgraduate studies (Master - PhD) in the software department.

Educational Seminar on Quality Teaching Skills to Achieve Sustainable Development Goals at the College of Information Technology Duhaa Fadill Abbas As part of its ongoing scientific and awareness-driven activities aimed at advancing sustainable development and enhancing the quality of the educational process, the College of Information Technology hosted an educational seminar entitled “Quality Teaching Skills to Achieve Sustainable Development Goals.” The seminar was delivered by Engineer Randa Mahdi Kadhim, a staff member of the Vocational Education Department at the Babylon Directorate of Education, and was attended by a number of faculty members, students, and individuals interested in educational development. The seminar sought to highlight the importance of developing contemporary teaching competencies in alignment with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly Goal 4, which emphasizes ensuring inclusive, equitable, and quality education for all. It also aimed to strengthen participants’ awareness of the necessity of adopting effective pedagogical approaches that respond to evolving knowledge systems and technological advancements, thereby preparing a generation capable of innovation and active societal engagement. The discussion addressed several key themes, including the conceptual foundations and core pillars of quality education, modern instructional strategies, and the role of vocational education in supporting labor market needs and promoting sustainable development. Additionally, the seminar presented practical models and applied examples of teaching practices that enhance educational outcomes and foster students’ critical thinking, problem-solving abilities, and lifelong learning skills. This seminar forms part of the College’s broader commitment to strengthening cooperation with educational institutions in Babylon Governorate and to supporting initiatives that advance educational quality while aligning academic practices with sustainability objectives. Such efforts reflect the institution’s dedication to integrating academic knowledge with practical application within a comprehensive and forward-looking educational environment.
