It was established in 2009-2010 under the name of the College of Computer Technology, then its name was changed to the College of Information Technology in 2012, as a result of the development of scientific curricula. It is one of the advanced colleges in the university in terms of infrastructure and laboratories. The college grants a bachelor's degree (computer science) according to the departments mentioned above. The college follows the course system. Postgraduate studies (Master - PhD) in the software department.

Students of the College of Information Technology Excel at the University of Babylon Athletics Championship, Achieving a Distinguished Accomplishment Duhaa Fadill Abbas In alignment with the objectives of the Department of Cybersecurity to promote the holistic development of its students and to encourage active engagement in extracurricular activities that contribute to building well-rounded academic personalities, the participation of the department’s students in the University of Babylon Athletics Championship reflects the department’s strategic commitment to excellence beyond the classroom. Students from the Department of Cybersecurity at the College of Information Technology took part in the University Athletics Championship organized by the Student Activities Department / Sports Activities Division at the Presidency of the University, in cooperation with the College of Physical Education and Sports Sciences. The championship brought together participants from various colleges and departments across the university, creating a dynamic and highly competitive sporting environment. The event featured several track and field competitions, including the 100-meter race, 400-meter race, shot put, and discus throw. The wide participation of students from different academic disciplines fostered a spirit of teamwork, dedication, and institutional pride throughout the championship. A notable achievement was realized by student Sajjad Abdul Azeem, a second-year student in the Department of Cybersecurity, who secured first place in the 400-meter race with an impressive time of 59 seconds. His accomplishment represents a significant milestone for the department and highlights the athletic potential of its students alongside their academic pursuits. This achievement underscores the College of Information Technology’s commitment to supporting student talents across diverse fields and reaffirms its belief in the importance of integrating academic excellence with athletic and extracurricular engagement to cultivate capable, confident, and high-achieving university graduates.
