It was established in 2009-2010 under the name of the College of Computer Technology, then its name was changed to the College of Information Technology in 2012, as a result of the development of scientific curricula. It is one of the advanced colleges in the university in terms of infrastructure and laboratories. The college grants a bachelor's degree (computer science) according to the departments mentioned above. The college follows the course system. Postgraduate studies (Master - PhD) in the software department.

Pre-Writing Seminar Presented by Master’s Student Aya Jamal Haidi Duhaa Fadill Abbas As part of the ongoing scientific activities organized by the Department of Software at the College of Information Technology – University of Babylon, Master’s student Aya Jamal Haidi delivered a pre-writing seminar for her thesis entitled: “An Intelligent Cyber Defense Using Deep Reinforcement Learning.” The seminar was conducted under the supervision of Professor Dr. Eman Kadhim Saleh and in the presence of the department’s scientific committee members. In her presentation, the student emphasized the critical importance of developing intelligent cyber defense systems capable of adapting to the rapidly evolving landscape of cyberattacks. She highlighted that contemporary security challenges require dynamic, adaptive solutions grounded in continuous learning and autonomous decision-making mechanisms, rather than reliance on conventional static defense approaches. The seminar forms part of the department’s sustained commitment to advancing research in cybersecurity and artificial intelligence, and reflects the College’s strategic orientation toward fostering innovative technological solutions that address emerging security threats and contribute to building a more secure and sustainable digital environment.
