Postgraduate Student from the Department of Information Networks Publishes Research on UAV-Assisted Mobile Edge Computing for IoT Applications Doha Fadill Abbas As part of its ongoing commitment to strengthening scientific research and advancing intelligent technological solutions for Internet of Things (IoT) applications, a PhD student, Iman Dakhel Eidan, from the Department of Information Networks – College of Information Technology – Al-Mustaqbal University, has published a distinguished research paper in the international journal Physical Communication, published by Elsevier and indexed within the second quartile (Q2) in both Scopus and Clarivate databases. The research, entitled “A Comprehensive Review of Computation Offloading in UAV-Assisted Mobile Edge Computing for IoT Applications,” provides an in-depth analytical review of computation offloading techniques within UAV-supported mobile edge computing (MEC) environments. The study highlights the growing role of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) in modern wireless communication systems and their expanding applications in critical domains such as disaster management, environmental monitoring, and agricultural protection. The paper thoroughly examines how integrating UAV-assisted communications with Mobile Edge Computing can address the inherent resource constraints of IoT devices while ensuring reliable connectivity in areas lacking adequate communication infrastructure. Furthermore, the study evaluates the overall performance of MEC systems through offloading modeling approaches and synthesizes both historical developments and recent innovations in this rapidly evolving research domain. This publication aligns with the strategic objectives of the Department of Information Networks, which seeks to foster advanced research, promote innovative technological solutions for smart network infrastructures, and empower postgraduate students to actively contribute to emerging fields in computing and communication technologies. The achievement further reflects the College’s dedication to enhancing academic excellence and expanding its global research presence in cutting-edge technological disciplines.
