It was established in 2009-2010 under the name of the College of Computer Technology, then its name was changed to the College of Information Technology in 2012, as a result of the development of scientific curricula. It is one of the advanced colleges in the university in terms of infrastructure and laboratories. The college grants a bachelor's degree (computer science) according to the departments mentioned above. The college follows the course system. Postgraduate studies (Master - PhD) in the software department.

Within the Activities of the Al-Nourain Quranic Forum in BabylonA Student from the College of Information Technology Participates in the Ramadan Quranic Recitation Ceremony Duhaa Fadill Abbas In alignment with the strategic objectives of the College of Information Technology to support purposeful initiatives that contribute to the holistic development of students—academically and ethically—and to enhance their active engagement in religious and cultural events, student Saad Khalid Ouda from the Department of Cybersecurity participated in the Ramadan Quranic completion ceremony organized by Ma had al-Quran al-Karim in cooperation with the Office of the Shrine of Alawiya al-Sharifa bint Imam al-Hasan al-Mujtaba, as part of the activities of the Al-Nourain Quranic Forum held in the Governorate of Babylon. The participation took place in a spiritually enriching atmosphere reflective of the sacred month of Ramadan, with the event witnessing wide attendance from reciters and participants. Such gatherings reaffirm the importance of strengthening the connection with the Holy Quran and fostering enduring moral and spiritual values among university students. The involvement of the College’s students in Quranic forums and community-based initiatives embodies their commitment to integrating academic excellence with ethical responsibility, consistent with the College’s mission of preparing scientifically competent and socially conscious graduates capable of contributing meaningfully to society. The College of Information Technology continues to emphasize its institutional support for religious and cultural activities that nurture well-rounded student development and reinforce constructive engagement within the broader community.
