It was established in 2009-2010 under the name of the College of Computer Technology, then its name was changed to the College of Information Technology in 2012, as a result of the development of scientific curricula. It is one of the advanced colleges in the university in terms of infrastructure and laboratories. The college grants a bachelor's degree (computer science) according to the departments mentioned above. The college follows the course system. Postgraduate studies (Master - PhD) in the software department.

Department of Software Launches Its Training Course for First-Year Students Duhaa Fadill Abbas Starting Tuesday, the Department of Software at the College of Information Technology commenced its training course for first-year students entitled “Fundamentals of Programming in Java,” which aims to provide students with essential programming skills and to develop their understanding of Java language concepts through a practical and application-oriented approach. The training course is delivered under the supervision of: Assist. Prof. Hussein Ali Ismail Asst. Lect. Doaa Wahab Programmer Huda Kadhim Ayoub The students demonstrated significant engagement and noticeable benefit from the course content, as they actively participated in practical applications and programming exercises, which enhanced their understanding of fundamental programming concepts.
