It was established in 2009-2010 under the name of the College of Computer Technology, then its name was changed to the College of Information Technology in 2012, as a result of the development of scientific curricula. It is one of the advanced colleges in the university in terms of infrastructure and laboratories. The college grants a bachelor's degree (computer science) according to the departments mentioned above. The college follows the course system. Postgraduate studies (Master - PhD) in the software department.

Faculty Member from the College of Information Technology Participates in a PhD Dissertation Defense Committee at the University of Babylon Duhaa Fadill Abbas As part of the ongoing efforts of the Department of Software at the College of Information Technology to strengthen its academic engagement and active participation in scholarly activities across the university, Assistant Professor Dr. Haider Kadhim Zghair served as a member of the PhD dissertation defense committee in the Department of Mathematics, College of Education for Pure Sciences, University of Babylon. The defense took place on Monday and addressed the dissertation entitled: “New Types of Digraphs with Respect to Near Rings” submitted by Ms. Mona Shaker Jabouri Shanin. The examination committee comprised a distinguished panel of academics: Professor Dr. Uday Sabri Abdul Razzaq (Chair), Professor Dr. Niran Sabah Jassim (Member), Professor Dr. Taghreed Hur Majeed (Member), Assistant Professor Dr. Ali Hussein Mahmoud (Member), Assistant Professor Dr. Haider Kadhim Zghair (Member), and Professor Dr. Amir Abdulhadi Al-Suwaidi (Member and Supervisor). Dr. Zghair’s participation reflects the spirit of academic collaboration among the University’s colleges and the exchange of research expertise in specialized fields, particularly in pure mathematics and its theoretical frameworks related to algebraic structures and directed graphs. Such engagement underscores the interdisciplinary integration between foundational mathematical sciences and advanced technological domains. The College of Information Technology reaffirms its commitment to supporting its faculty members’ scholarly contributions and encouraging their active involvement in postgraduate thesis and dissertation committees. These academic engagements further enhance the College’s institutional standing and contribute to advancing research excellence at both the university and broader academic levels.
