Researchers from the Information Networks Department at the University of Babylon Achieve a Scientific Milestone in a Q2 International Journal Duhaa Fadill Abbas Within the framework of the distinguished scientific achievements of the Information Networks Department at the College of Information Technology, University of Babylon, and as part of the department’s continuous efforts to strengthen its position in academic research and innovation, a team of faculty members has successfully published an advanced scientific study in an international journal classified as Q2 and indexed in Elsevier Scopus. This accomplishment reflects the department’s academic excellence and its active role in providing innovative scientific solutions in the fields of information networks and distributed systems. The research, entitled Dynamic Allocation of Weights Using the Minimally Connected Method to Augment Load Equilibrium in Distributed Systems, was conducted by Professor Mahdi Saleh Neama, Assistant Professor Tariq Alwan Kadhim, and Assistant Professor Ahmed Mahdi Mohammed. The study focuses on improving load balancing in distributed systems, which represents a fundamental element for ensuring optimal server performance and efficient management of computational resources. The research introduces an innovative mechanism for dynamically assigning weights in the Weighted Round Robin algorithm based on the real-time data transfer rate of each server, while incorporating the Least Connections method to achieve a more balanced and effective distribution of incoming requests. The findings of the study demonstrate that the proposed algorithm outperforms traditional approaches, contributing to improved load distribution, reduced response times, and enhanced overall performance of distributed systems. This represents a significant advancement in the development of information networks and the management of modern intelligent systems. In recognition of this outstanding scientific achievement, the University President expressed his deep appreciation for the research team, emphasizing that this accomplishment reflects the research excellence and innovation of the faculty members of the Information Networks Department. He also noted that such achievements contribute to strengthening the academic standing of the College of Information Technology and support its mission in promoting scientific innovation at both national and international levels. The research team was also awarded a formal letter of appreciation in recognition of their distinguished contribution to advancing scientific research and elevating the reputation of the university.
