The College of Information Technology Organizes a Voluntary Tree-Planting Campaign to Promote Environmental Sustainability and Campus Aesthetics Duhaa Fadill Abbas In line with its strategic vision to instill principles of environmental sustainability and raise ecological awareness among the college community, and in pursuit of providing a healthy and engaging academic environment that supports the learning process and inspires students, the Software Department at the College of Information Technology organized a voluntary tree-planting campaign within the college gardens. This initiative saw active participation from faculty members and a large number of students, under the supervision of the College Dean, Professor Wesam Sameer Bhaya, and the follow-up of the Head of the Department, Dr. Sara Zaki Naji. The campaign reflects the college’s ongoing commitment to enhancing the campus environment and fostering a culture of volunteerism and environmental responsibility. The campaign involved planting a wide variety of saplings suitable for the university environment, rehabilitating green areas, cleaning and improving pathways, and enhancing surrounding spaces, thereby contributing to a well-organized and visually appealing campus that provides a more comfortable and welcoming atmosphere for students and staff alike. Students of the College of Information Technology played an active role in implementing these activities with a strong sense of teamwork and responsibility, exemplifying the positive role of university students in serving their educational institution and broader community. Their participation underscored the importance of volunteer initiatives in cultivating personal development, a sense of belonging, and collaborative skills. This initiative aligns with the College of Information Technology’s broader objectives of supporting environmental and community-focused activities that expand green spaces across the campus, promote awareness of environmental stewardship, and create a brighter, more balanced educational setting consistent with the college’s academic and humanitarian mission. Through this campaign, the Software Department reaffirms its active role in adopting impactful initiatives that serve the college and support its developmental goals, demonstrating a commitment to integrating academic excellence with community engagement and fostering a sustainable and inspiring educational environment.
