In line with the Software Department’s commitment at the College of Information Technology, University of Babylon, to enhancing students’ technical competencies, keeping pace with rapid advancements in artificial intelligence, and fostering a stimulating environment for innovation and creativity, the activities of the scientific forum entitled “Artificial Intelligence… A Digital Mind for Serving Society” continued for the second consecutive day. The event witnessed distinguished attendance from faculty members, researchers, and students, reflecting the growing interest in AI applications and their vital role across various scientific and service sectors.
The second day featured a series of specialized scientific seminars and workshops addressing key themes in artificial intelligence. A seminar titled “Artificial Intelligence and Youth Empowerment” was delivered by Dr. Hussein Ismail, highlighting the role of emerging technologies in empowering young individuals and expanding their opportunities within the job market.
In addition, a workshop entitled “Civil Liability for Harmful Acts Arising from Intelligent Systems” was presented by Dr. Khawla Kadhim and Dr. Eman Kadhim, focusing on the legal dimensions associated with the use of intelligent systems and the importance of establishing clear regulatory frameworks governing the relationship between technology and society.
Another seminar, “Artificial Intelligence as an Effective Tool for Facilitating Human Life Across Various Domains,” delivered by Dr. Haider Fares Naji, explored the practical applications of AI in simplifying daily activities and enhancing quality of life across multiple sectors.
A particularly prominent highlight of the day was the Artificial Intelligence Excellence Competition, which attracted wide engagement from students across all departments of the college. Participants presented a diverse range of innovative technical projects, including web development, game design, mobile applications, and advanced digital processing solutions powered by artificial intelligence. The submitted projects demonstrated a high level of technical proficiency, creativity, and practical relevance, reflecting the strong academic foundation and advanced skillsets cultivated within the college.
The projects were evaluated by a specialized academic committee of faculty members based on rigorous criteria, including innovation, technical quality, and applicability. The competition underscored the college’s success in nurturing talent capable of delivering impactful and forward-looking technological solutions.
These activities further reinforce the forum’s objectives of promoting AI awareness, strengthening students’ technical skills, and bridging the gap between theoretical knowledge and practical application, ultimately contributing to the preparation of a generation capable of addressing the challenges of an increasingly digital world.
