Under the Supervision of the Head of the Software Department… A Distinguished Student Initiative to Enhance Practical Understanding of Logic Gates

Under the patronage and supervision of Assistant Professor Dr. Sura Zaki Naji, Head of the Software Department at the College of Information Technology, Abdulrazzaq Wahab Razzaq, a first-year evening studies student, presented a distinguished scientific initiative that involved the design, programming, and distribution of educational electronic boards to his fellow students.
The student delivered a practical and interactive explanation of the concept behind these boards, demonstrating how they are designed and programmed, and highlighting their importance in simplifying fundamental concepts in digital logic. The presentation was conducted under the supervision and in the presence of Mr. Yasser Saad jody, which added an organized academic dimension and enhanced the effectiveness of conveying the concept to students.
The electronic board includes a set of fundamental logic gates, namely: AND, OR, XOR, NOT, and NAND. It features two inputs (0 or 1), and the outputs are displayed visually through red LED indicators according to the truth table of each gate, enabling students to gain a direct visual and practical understanding of these concepts.
This board represents an interactive educational simulation that enhances students’ comprehension of logic gates in a practical, real-world-oriented manner, rather than relying solely on theoretical instruction.
The student also donated several of these boards to the Software Department, making them available for borrowing by students from other academic stages and departments, thereby supporting the educational process and expanding access to this learning resource.
Dr. Sura Zaki Naji praised the student’s outstanding efforts, commending his initiative and creativity, and emphasizing that such practical activities contribute to developing students’ skills and strengthening their applied capabilities. She also encouraged other students to follow such exemplary models.
This initiative reflects the importance of supporting student potential and fostering practical innovation, in alignment with the department’s vision of strengthening the applied aspect of student learning.
