It was established in 2009-2010 under the name of the College of Computer Technology, then its name was changed to the College of Information Technology in 2012, as a result of the development of scientific curricula. It is one of the advanced colleges in the university in terms of infrastructure and laboratories. The college grants a bachelor's degree (computer science) according to the departments mentioned above. The college follows the course system. Postgraduate studies (Master - PhD) in the software department.

Women Affairs Unit at the College of Information Technology Organizes a Training Course on Digital Leadership and Data Driven Decision Making Duhaa Fadill Abbas The Women Affairs Unit at the College of Information Technology organized a specialized training course entitled Digital Leadership and Data Driven Decision Making held during the period 12–13 April 2026 as part of its activities within the first axis Participation and Political Development of Iraqi Women The course witnessed the participation of a distinguished group of faculty members from the Department of Cybersecurity along with individuals interested in the field of digital transformation The course was delivered by Dr Safa Reda Jassim Ms Shahad Jawad and Ms Farah Alaa addressing advanced concepts of digital leadership and highlighting the importance of leveraging data to support strategic decision making in ways that enhance institutional performance and improve operational efficiency The training included practical sessions on methods of data collection and analysis using modern tools in addition to presenting real world applications of data driven leadership across various sectors Special emphasis was placed on developing participants analytical thinking skills and empowering them to transform data into actionable insights The course witnessed notable engagement from students who praised the scientific and practical content emphasizing the importance of acquiring digital leadership skills in light of the accelerating transition toward a digital economy This course comes as part of the department’s efforts to strengthen digital competencies and empower students to keep pace with modern technological developments thereby positively impacting performance quality and decision making processes
