It was established in 2009-2010 under the name of the College of Computer Technology, then its name was changed to the College of Information Technology in 2012, as a result of the development of scientific curricula. It is one of the advanced colleges in the university in terms of infrastructure and laboratories. The college grants a bachelor's degree (computer science) according to the departments mentioned above. The college follows the course system. Postgraduate studies (Master - PhD) in the software department.

Google Developer Student Club GDG Babylon Organizes a Workshop Titled “From A to Z” to Enhance Software Development Skills Duhaa Fadill Abbas As part of its ongoing efforts to strengthen the technological environment within the College of Information Technology and to develop students’ capabilities in programming and problem solving, while preparing a generation with an advanced practical understanding of the software development life cycle, the Google Developer Student Club GDG Babylon at the University of Babylon is pleased to invite participants to attend a specialized knowledge workshop titled “From A to Z”. The workshop aims to provide a comprehensive and integrated overview of the software development process, starting from problem identification and requirements analysis, through design and development stages, and concluding with implementation and deployment in a practical and structured manner. The workshop highlights the fundamental stages of software engineering, focusing on how to transition from an initial idea into effective software solutions. It emphasizes logical and systematic thinking approaches when addressing various programming challenges, thereby enhancing participants’ ability to build complete and scalable systems. This workshop comes as part of a series of activities organized by the club aimed at improving students’ technical skills, promoting modern programming thinking, and enabling them to gain practical experience that helps them fully understand the software development lifecycle from start to finish. Through such initiatives, GDG Babylon seeks to provide an interactive learning environment that supports innovation and encourages hands-on learning, in line with the rapid developments in information technology and programming, and contributes to preparing a generation capable of addressing technical challenges with efficiency and professionalism.
