It was established in 2009-2010 under the name of the College of Computer Technology, then its name was changed to the College of Information Technology in 2012, as a result of the development of scientific curricula. It is one of the advanced colleges in the university in terms of infrastructure and laboratories. The college grants a bachelor's degree (computer science) according to the departments mentioned above. The college follows the course system. Postgraduate studies (Master - PhD) in the software department.

Women’s Affairs Unit at the College of Information Technology Organizes a Retirement Ceremony Honoring a Staff Member in an Atmosphere of Appreciation and Loyalty Duhaa Fadill Abbas As part of the efforts of the Women’s Affairs Unit at the College of Information Technology University of Babylon to promote a culture of institutional appreciation celebrate dedicated service and recognize the sincere contributions of the college staff the unit organized a retirement ceremony in honor of staff member Raida Ibrahim Malik in an initiative that reflected deep appreciation for her professional journey and the many years of dedication and commitment she devoted to serving the academic institution. The occasion also embodied the human and social values that the college seeks to reinforce within its working environment. The ceremony featured a series of heartfelt segments beginning with the surprise reception of the honoree’s family members which added a deeply emotional dimension to the occasion and reflected the strong human bonds surrounding this special moment. The event also included the presentation of a video prepared by the Women’s Affairs Unit portraying women as symbols of dedication hard work and perseverance while highlighting the vital role women play across different professional spheres and their significant contribution to institutional and societal development. The Dean of the College also delivered a speech expressing his high appreciation for the honoree and commending her sincere efforts throughout her years of service emphasizing that retirement does not mark the end of giving but rather represents a distinguished milestone worthy of recognition and celebration. The ceremony further included a video titled Messages from the Heart featuring touching messages from her colleagues who expressed their gratitude and appreciation for her professional ethics and positive human relationships in addition to a surprise video message from her father residing abroad which added a profoundly emotional and personal dimension to the event. The program also featured a special poem composed by Mr Yasser Saad Joudi and dedicated to the honoree on this occasion reflecting through its verses the meanings of loyalty appreciation and recognition of her professional and human legacy. As part of the recognition segment members of the College Council honored the retiree in appreciation of her distinguished service and contributions after which the ceremony concluded with the cutting of the celebratory cake in an atmosphere filled with joy gratitude and heartfelt emotion in a scene that embodied the true meaning of institutional and human loyalty. This ceremony reflects the commitment of the College of Information Technology and the Women’s Affairs Unit to promoting a culture of appreciation and honoring those who have contributed sincerely to serving the institution in ways that foster a humane working environment built on respect gratitude and recognition.
