It was established in 2009-2010 under the name of the College of Computer Technology, then its name was changed to the College of Information Technology in 2012, as a result of the development of scientific curricula. It is one of the advanced colleges in the university in terms of infrastructure and laboratories. The college grants a bachelor's degree (computer science) according to the departments mentioned above. The college follows the course system. Postgraduate studies (Master - PhD) in the software department.

College of Information Technology Organizes Sustainability Projects Exhibition during University Sustainability Week under the Patronage of the University Presidency Duhaa Fadill Abbas Under the patronage of the President of the University of Babylon Professor Dr. Amin Al-Yasiri and within the activities of the University Sustainability Week the College of Information Technology organized the Sustainability Projects Exhibition with a distinguished participation from students of its academic departments reflecting the College’s advanced academic vision and its leading role in digital innovation and technological transformation. This event reaffirmed the College’s commitment to nurturing young talents and creating an inspiring academic environment that promotes creativity and excellence. It also highlighted the pivotal role the College plays in supporting global trends toward sustainable development through the application of technological knowledge to produce innovative solutions that serve society and meet the demands of the modern era. The organization of this exhibition embodied the College’s vision of integrating sustainability concepts into the academic environment by employing digital innovation and advanced technological solutions to address environmental economic and social challenges in alignment with the Sustainable Development Goals and international developments in this field. The exhibition showcased a distinguished collection of student projects that demonstrated a high level of creativity and excellence. These projects were remarkable for their diversity and their contribution to various areas that support the Sustainable Development Goals including smart solutions and innovative digital applications aimed at improving resource efficiency promoting environmental sustainability and enhancing community services in addition to practical models that can be developed and implemented across vital sectors. The exhibition also included a special segment to announce the winners of this month’s IT Arena application competition where the Software Department secured first place and was awarded the Shield of Excellence in recognition of its outstanding performance. Students from the Cybersecurity Department also achieved notable success by winning second and third places demonstrating the spirit of academic competition and excellence among the College’s departments. During his visit to the exhibition the President of the University expressed his pride and admiration for the outstanding level demonstrated by the students of the College of Information Technology praising their advanced creative abilities and technical vision. He affirmed that such projects reflect the quality of the College’s academic outcomes and represent the true direction toward a knowledge-producing university that keeps pace with global progress. The College Deanship confirmed that these initiatives represent an extension of an integrated academic approach aimed at preparing a generation capable of employing technological knowledge in the service of sustainable development issues. It also emphasized the College’s ongoing support for high quality projects that encourage innovative thinking and link academic outputs with real world needs. Academics and attendees also expressed their admiration for the advanced level of the displayed projects praising the students’ ability to present practical models that demonstrate a deep understanding of contemporary challenges and a forward-looking vision based on innovation and sustainability. This exhibition comes as part of the College of Information Technology’s ongoing efforts to strengthen its position as a leading academic institution in digital transformation and innovation and as a key contributor to the University’s mission of achieving sustainable development and building an advanced knowledge-based society.
