In alignment with the directives of the Council of Ministers to implement the National Security Strategy (Iraq First 2025–2030), and as part of its efforts to enhance economic and technological awareness, the College of Information Technology organized a scientific seminar titled “Regional and International Companies: Toward Balanced and Effective Cooperation.” The seminar was delivered by Assistant Professor Dr. Khawla Kazem Mohammed, a faculty member in the Department of Software, and addressed the dimensions of economic cooperation in light of accelerating global transformations and its impact on supporting the national economy.
The seminar highlighted the pivotal role of regional and international companies as key manifestations of economic globalization, contributing to market integration and the expansion of economic activities through the exchange of expertise and technologies. It also clarified that regional companies typically operate within defined geographic frameworks encompassing economically aligned countries, whereas international companies extend their operations across multiple continents, benefiting from the diversity of resources and markets.
The seminar emphasized that cooperation among these companies constitutes a fundamental pillar for achieving sustainable development by facilitating knowledge and technology transfer and improving production efficiency. It further contributes to enhancing foreign investment, generating high-quality employment opportunities, and supporting Iraq’s strategic direction toward economic diversification and reduced reliance on traditional resource-based models.
Additionally, the seminar addressed the legal and regulatory dimensions governing such cooperation, underscoring the importance of clear legislative frameworks that ensure the protection of investments while maintaining a balance between corporate interests and national economic sovereignty. It also highlighted the significant role of international and regional agreements in facilitating the movement of capital and trade across borders.
The seminar concluded by affirming that establishing balanced and effective economic partnerships between regional and international companies represents a strategic step toward achieving economic stability and strengthening countries’ positions within the global economic system, in alignment with Iraq’s vision of building a sustainable and knowledge-based digital economy.
