Launch of the Scientific Forum “Artificial Intelligence… A Digital Mind for Serving Society” at the College of Information Technology, University of Babylon

Under the patronage of the President of the University of Babylon, Professor Dr. Amin Al-Yasiri, and the Dean of the College of Information Technology, Professor Dr. Wesam Sameer Bhaya, the activities of the scientific forum entitled “Artificial Intelligence… A Digital Mind for Serving Society” were officially inaugurated at the College of Information Technology. The first day of the forum, organized by the Department of Software, witnessed wide participation from academics, researchers, and students.
The opening ceremony was attended by a distinguished group of academic leaders, including the Dean of the College of Science, as well as representatives from the intelligence sector and Babylon Governorate, in addition to a number of faculty members, researchers, and specialists in the fields of artificial intelligence and modern technologies.
The forum commenced with a recitation from the Holy Quran, followed by the Iraqi national anthem and a moment of remembrance in honor of the martyrs. This was followed by a speech delivered by the Dean of the College, and subsequently by the Head of the Department of Software, Assistant Professor Dr. Sura Zaki Naji, who emphasized the critical role of artificial intelligence as a fundamental pillar in advancing various vital sectors, as well as its growing impact in serving society and achieving sustainable development.
The forum’s program included a series of scientific seminars and specialized workshops addressing multiple themes, such as the integration of networks and artificial intelligence in the development of smart cities, the role of AI in education and youth empowerment, and presentations of outstanding student projects that demonstrated advanced academic levels and promising technological innovation.
The forum also aims to promote societal awareness of artificial intelligence applications, foster ethical use of modern technologies, strengthen partnerships between academic and community institutions, and equip students with advanced digital skills.
This scientific event reflects the commitment of the College of Information Technology and the Department of Software to keeping pace with digital transformation and providing a stimulating academic environment that encourages creativity and innovation, thereby contributing to the preparation of a generation capable of addressing future challenges and building an advanced knowledge-based society.
At the conclusion of the first day’s activities, the organizers expressed their appreciation and gratitude to all participants and attendees, confirming the continuation of the forum over the following two days and wishing everyone continued success and excellence.
