Speech the Head
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful. “And say, ‘Work, for God will see your deeds, and [so will] His Messenger and the believers. And you will be returned to the Knower of the unseen and the witnessed, and He will inform you of what you used to do.’” (At-Tawbah 9:105)
Peace and blessings be upon the best of God’s creation, Muhammad ibn Abdullah, may God bless him and grant him peace. On my own behalf and on behalf of my colleagues, the faculty and staff, it is my pleasure to welcome you to the Software Engineering Department at the College of Information Technology.
The Software Engineering Department is a relatively new department, established to contribute to achieving national strategic goals by graduating generations capable of producing, marketing, and adopting technology both locally and regionally. Furthermore, it aims to equip graduates to respond to the rapid and continuous advancements in software analysis, design, development, and maintenance.
The Software Engineering specialization focuses on applying disciplined, systematic methods to design, develop, and maintain software. Specialists in this field must possess a solid knowledge base in various theoretical aspects, such as mathematics, algorithm analysis, and statistics. The academic programs offered by the department focus on various methods and approaches for software development and maintenance, system requirements analysis and management, and the development of software structuring and implementation methods. The programs also emphasize software performance and implementation testing at various levels and stages of system development. Furthermore, they focus on software project management methodologies, techniques, and tools.
The Software Department is committed to staying abreast of the theoretical and practical aspects of the software industry to produce highly qualified software developers for the job market. To fulfill our academic commitments, the department has undertaken several extracurricular initiatives to introduce students to the latest topics in software requirements, cloud computing, computing service architecture, human-computer interaction, big data analytics, expert systems, and virtual environments.
The department currently offers several academic programs, including:
Bachelor of Science in Information Technology/Software
Master of Science in Information Technology/Software
Doctor of Philosophy in Information Technology/Software
In conclusion, I invite you all to explore the latest developments in the software industry by browsing the department s website.
