As part of its ongoing efforts to support advanced research and keep pace with technological developments in the field of cybersecurity the College of Information Technology at the University of Babylon witnessed the defense of a PhD dissertation in the Department of Software by the candidate Safaa Tahseen Mohammed Jawad entitled Enhancing the Security of Constrained Devices Based on an Improved Post Quantum CRYSTALS Dilithium Algorithm under the supervision of Professor Dr Harith Abdullah Abdulkarim Head of the Department of Information Networks in the presence of a number of faculty members researchers and postgraduate students on Thursday 16 April 2026 at the College Conference Hall.

The dissertation addressed one of the contemporary challenges associated with the rapid advancement in quantum computing and the resulting threats to traditional cryptographic systems which necessitate the adoption of post quantum cryptography techniques to ensure secure communications and data protection in future environments particularly in resource constrained systems.

The study aimed to develop an enhanced model for a digital signature scheme based on the CRYSTALS Dilithium algorithm achieving higher efficiency while reducing computational complexity and memory consumption making it more suitable for constrained devices and embedded systems.

The research adopted an advanced technical approach focusing on overcoming computational limitations related to the Number Theoretic Transform by employing an innovative reduction mechanism within transformation operations in addition to proposing a simplified method for representing secret data which contributes to reducing memory footprint while maintaining the security level of the system.

This dissertation comes within the framework of the scientific efforts exerted by the College of Information Technology at the University of Babylon to promote research in cybersecurity and advanced cryptography and to develop innovative technological solutions that keep pace with the challenges of the digital era and contribute to building secure and reliable communication systems.
