Cybersecurity Department at the College of Information Technology Leads an Advanced Competitive Experience through a CTF Challenge to Develop Students’ Skills

In a vivid embodiment of its ambitious strategic vision to prepare highly specialized technical cadres capable of confronting rapidly evolving cyber threats, and to reinforce its position as a leading academic environment in adopting modern applied learning approaches, the Cybersecurity Department at the College of Information Technology, University of Babylon, organized a CTF (Capture The Flag) competition. This distinguished scientific event reflected the department’s philosophy of practice-based learning and real-world experimentation, providing a professional technical environment that simulates authentic cybersecurity scenarios. Through this initiative, students were encouraged to apply their theoretical knowledge in practical, challenge-driven contexts that foster analytical thinking, problem-solving, and exploration, ultimately enhancing their readiness for the demands of the technological labor market.
This initiative reaffirms the department’s commitment to developing students’ skills and refining their practical competencies in cybersecurity fields by immersing them in realistic experiences that simulate cyber threat environments. The competition featured a diverse range of technical challenges across advanced domains, including ethical hacking, digital forensics, network security, reverse engineering, cryptography, and vulnerability analysis.
