Information Networks Department at the College of Information Technology Discusses Graduation Projects in an Academic Scene Reflecting Innovation and Sustainable Development Duhaa Fadill Abbas In a vibrant academic atmosphere filled with creativity and technological advancement, the Information Networks Department at the College of Information Technology, University of Babylon, demonstrated the remarkable level of scientific excellence achieved by its students during the discussion of fourth-year graduation projects for both morning and evening studies. The department’s halls and laboratories were transformed into dynamic spaces showcasing advanced technological ideas and intelligent solutions that reflected the students’ accumulated skills and expertise throughout their academic journey, as well as their ability to present practical projects that contribute to community service and keep pace with digital transformation and sustainable development goals. The presented projects were not merely theoretical concepts or conventional models; rather, they were professionally demonstrated through fully functioning systems, miniature prototypes, and real practical applications, highlighting the students’ capability to transform academic knowledge into tangible and implementable technological solutions. The discussions were conducted under the direct supervision and close follow-up of the Head of the Information Networks Department, Professor Dr. Al-Harith Abdul Kareem Abdullah, who carefully monitored the progress of the scientific committees and the organization of the discussions in a manner that reflected the department’s distinguished academic and organizational standards, as well as its continuous commitment to supporting students and enhancing their technical and research capabilities to better prepare them for the labor market and the rapidly evolving fields of networking and digital transformation. A total of fifteen specialized scientific committees were formed and distributed across the department’s halls and laboratories to evaluate the projects of fifty-seven students from both morning and evening studies. The projects varied in ideas and technical themes and were distinguished by their clear practical and applied nature. Students presented operational systems and implemented prototypes that were tested within the laboratories, including applications related to smart networks, electronic systems, digital infrastructure, and Internet of Things technologies. This gave the discussions a highly professional character that reflected the advanced level attained by the department’s students. Many of the projects also aligned with sustainable development goals through the utilization of technology to improve digital services, enhance the efficiency of electronic systems, and support modern work environments. This demonstrated the students’ awareness of the importance of linking academic outputs with community needs and labor market requirements, in addition to aligning with the concept of the productive university and community service by offering technological solutions with real-world impact and future development potential. Members of the scientific committees praised the outstanding quality of the projects and the skills demonstrated by the students during the discussions, emphasizing that the presented works reflected significant progress in their technical and analytical abilities, as well as their readiness to compete and contribute effectively to various technological sectors. These discussions come within the vision of the Information Networks Department to strengthen practical and applied education, foster an academic environment that encourages creativity and innovation, and prepare highly qualified technical cadres capable of keeping pace with the rapid developments in information technology and digital transformation.
