Scientific Debate at the College of Information Technology Under the Theme "Scientific Dialogue: A Bridge Connecting Minds and Illuminating Knowledge" Duhaa Fadill Abbas As part of an initiative launched by the College of Information Technology to promote collaboration among students and enhance scientific interaction, the college organized a distinguished scientific debate. The event was attended by members of the college council, several faculty members, and a number of students. This debate, held under the theme "Scientific Dialogue: A Bridge Connecting Minds and Illuminating Knowledge," is the second of its kind organized by the college consecutively, and was chaired by Professor Dr. Al-Harith Abdul-Kareem Abdullah and his Team. The debate focused on three core topics: Fundamentals of Programming, Fundamentals of Network Information, and Fundamentals of Cybersecurity. Teams representing the college s three academic departments—Software Engineering, Network Information, and Cybersecurity—participated in the event. Students competed across three scientific rounds, where each team presented their theoretical and practical knowledge based on the topics provided. Throughout the three rounds, the Network Information team and the Cybersecurity team were tied, prompting an additional round to break the deadlock. In the final round, the debate saw fierce competition, and with outstanding performances from all teams, the Cybersecurity team emerged victorious in the end. At the conclusion of the debate, the winning team (Cybersecurity Department) was awarded the victory shield, and all participating students were honored for their contributions to this scientific event. Additionally, encouraging prizes were distributed to the participants in recognition of their active role in fostering collaboration and scientific competition. This event reflects the college s commitment to providing an educational environment that fosters critical thinking, the exchange of ideas, and collaboration among students across different disciplines, which helps to refine their scientific skills and strengthens the spirit of fair competition among them.
