The College of Information Technology Explores Prospects of Collaboration with the Directorate of Communications and Informatics in Babylon During the Annual Student Projects Exhibition

As part of its ongoing efforts to strengthen institutional partnerships and channel student potential toward serving the community, the Dean of the College of Information Technology at the University of Babylon, Professor Dr. Wesam Sameer Bhaya, received an official delegation from the Directorate of Communications and Informatics in Babylon. The meeting took place on the sidelines of the college s Annual Student Projects Exhibition.

The visiting delegation included Engineer Ali Abdul-Hussein Abdullah, Director of Communications and Informatics, and Mr. Luay Hatim Al-Ta’i, Director of Public Relations and Media at the Directorate. The visit was a proactive initiative aimed at fostering technical and academic cooperation between both institutions and exploring avenues for leveraging the college’s academic outputs.

The meeting featured in-depth discussions on several key topics, most notably the mechanisms for joint coordination between the College and the Directorate, and the potential to translate student-developed projects into practical solutions applicable within governmental institutions—particularly in the fields of telecommunications and information technology.

Professor Dr. Wesam Sameer Bhaya emphasized the importance of academic institutions engaging with government bodies and the local community. He highlighted the role of student innovation in addressing real-world challenges and noted that the exhibition serves as a dynamic platform for showcasing creative and technically viable projects that reflect the students’ academic and practical competencies.

The Directorate’s representatives expressed strong admiration for the quality and innovation of the projects on display. They also conveyed keen interest in establishing formal collaboration with the College, especially in the areas of student training and adopting technically feasible projects that could contribute to advancing the telecommunications infrastructure in the province.

This meeting represents a significant step toward enhancing synergy between academia and public sector entities, laying the foundation for applied scientific collaboration that can drive technological advancement and support long-term sustainable development goals.
