It was established in 2009-2010 under the name of the College of Computer Technology, then its name was changed to the College of Information Technology in 2012, as a result of the development of scientific curricula. It is one of the advanced colleges in the university in terms of infrastructure and laboratories. The college grants a bachelor's degree (computer science) according to the departments mentioned above. The college follows the course system. Postgraduate studies (Master - PhD) in the software department.

The College of Information Technology Organizes a Specialized Training Course for Al-Ain Foundation Students on “Computer Skills and Microsoft Office Applications” Duhaa Fadill Abbas As part of its ongoing community engagement initiatives and in continuation of its partnership with Al-Ain Foundation for Social Care, the College of Information Technology at the University of Babylon organized a specialized training course entitled “Computer Skills and Microsoft Office Applications.” The course was held in collaboration with the college’s academic departments and coordinated by the Continuing Education Unit. Conducted over two consecutive days at 10:30 a.m., the sessions were led by Assistant Programmer Sinan Ali Mahdi and Assistant Engineer Mustafa Falah Kazem. The training focused on developing the participants’ foundational digital competencies, including hands-on practice with core Microsoft Office programs such as Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. The sessions were designed to enhance the participants’ technological readiness and support their academic and professional growth. This course is part of a broader training program hosted by the college for a group of students from Al-Ain Foundation, aiming to enrich their knowledge, foster digital literacy, and introduce them to the fundamentals of higher education in the field of information technology. The students demonstrated high levels of engagement and enthusiasm, which was positively noted by the instructors. In turn, Al-Ain Foundation expressed its sincere appreciation for the college’s commitment and the exceptional efforts made to support and empower the students. The Dean of the College reaffirmed the institution’s dedication to community service, emphasizing the university’s mission to extend educational support and contribute to societal development through effective partnerships with humanitarian and social organizations.
