Training Workshop on "Introduction to Logical Thinking through Scratch Environment" Held at the College of Information Technology Duhaa Fadill Abbas As part of its ongoing awareness and educational initiatives, the College of Information Technology at the University of Babylon, through the Continuing Education Unit and in collaboration with its academic departments, organized a specialized training workshop entitled "Introduction to Logical Thinking through Scratch Environment." The workshop was held over two consecutive days at 12:00 PM, targeting a group of students from Al-Ain Foundation for Social Care. The workshop was conducted by Programmer Assistant Nabras Abdul Redha Hamid and Engineer Assistant Duhaa Fadhel Abbas. It aimed to introduce participants to the fundamentals of computational logic and programming concepts using the interactive Scratch platform. Scratch, widely recognized for its accessibility and educational value, served as an effective tool to teach programming in a visual and engaging manner tailored specifically for younger learners and beginners. Throughout the sessions, the instructors guided the students through the installation methods of the Scratch program, whether on desktop systems, mobile devices, or via the web-based platform. The participants were introduced to the software s interface, key features, and programming components. A live project demonstration was also presented, in which an educational game was designed and executed, allowing students to observe the practical application of what they had learned. The workshop witnessed an enthusiastic and interactive atmosphere. Students expressed great interest and enjoyment in the course content and its hands-on activities, which was clearly reflected in their active engagement, curiosity, and eagerness to explore further. This initiative is part of the college’s broader efforts to support community-based programs that foster the development of digital skills among students from diverse social backgrounds. It aligns with the university’s vision of serving the community and cultivating an inclusive academic environment that empowers individuals with essential technological competencies and lifelong learning opportunities.
